Location:
Norfolk, Virginia This facility was designed to house the staff of the NATO Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic. Exterior image and compatibility with nearby Command structures were major design considerations. Principal exterior building materials consist of brick, precast concrete and reflective glass. The upper three floors are enclosed by a glazed curtain wall. The provision of unique and complex security and communications systems required special attention and represent the most advanced technology available. Computer-controlled card access allows selective entry to carious building zones; sensitive communications are secured by the use of Radio-Frequency Shielding. SCIF design was required. A secure telephone/PC network system runs throughout the building. Drawings for the complete demolition of a multi-story barracks were included. |
